With Comicdom Press and the Hellenic-American Union remaining at the helm, Comicdom Con Athens takes its second and most steady step, with the bazaar area expanding to three times the space it occupied the previous year, while the convention also hosted the “Peanuts Through 50 Years” exhibition, in close collaboration with the Charles M. Schulz Museum & Research Center.
In the Theatre, one documentary and one cartoon complete our spotlight on the great cartoonist, Charles Scultz. The convention is also honored by the presence of the creator’s widow, and founder of the Charles M. Schulz Museum, Jean Schulz, as well as the Museum’s collaborator, cartoonist Paige Braddock, creator of the comic strip JANE’S WORLD.
Our international guests are former UNCANNY X-MEN writer, Scott Lobdell, Shi creator, Bill Tucci, and Fantagraphics Books Publisher, Gary Groth.
On Saturday, the Theatre hosts a series of lectures on the subject of “Comics & Literature”, while our charity sketch event to benefit Draw the World Together is also held, with Andrew Wildman once again present, and the Con’s visitors “thanking” him, by breaking every fund-raising record, collecting more money for the organization than any international event thus faar!
Bill Tucci calls Comicdom Con Athens “the biggest small comics convention in the world, commending our event for it’s organizing excellence and wonderful atmosphere.
